Coffee and your Health

Specialty coffee and your health - The gearheads sit down and cover the benefits of drinking coffee | Motorized Coffee Company

Despite what your parents might have told you, drinking coffee in moderation is not bad for your health. In fact, it’s actually healthy and carries a number of health benefits in its trunk. Put down the wrench for a second and jump into our little Motorized Health Class where we’ll let you in on five health benefits that come from drinking coffee. You can’t get that from a straight-piped Honda!

    1. It increases energy levels and focus

If you drink coffee, you already know this. The more scientific explanation for this is that after the caffeine is absorbed into your bloodstream, it goes to your brain where it blocks the release of adenosine. Adenosine controls the electrical activity in your heart and without it, the number of other neurotransmitters like norepinephrine and dopamine increases, both of which increase your heartbeat and thus your energy levels.

        2. It can prevent a number of conditions

Studies show that drinking about 2–5 cups a day is linked to a lower likelihood of developing everything from type 2 diabetes to heart disease, liver disease, endometrial cancers, Parkinson’s disease, and depression. It essentially makes sure that all your dashboard warning lights stay off.

            3. It plays nice with your liver

Turns out that coffee acts like a turbo filter for your liver, protecting it from nasty diseases like hepatitis and fatty liver disease. In the long run, those can lead to cirrhosis so hey, triple win for coffee right there.

                4. Can help you lose weight

New a body kit for your own body? Caffeine is a key ingredient in many commercial fat-burning supplements thanks to its ability to boost your metabolic rate. That boost increases the number of calories you burn at rest kind of like the way your fuel use increases when you idle at a stoplight.

                    5. May prevent Alzheimer’s and Dementia

On top of the more physical conditions that caffeine can prevent, it can also be effective against mental conditions like Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Almost two-thirds of Americans who suffer Alzheimer’s are women and researchers found that “women age 65 and older who drank two to three cups of coffee a day were less likely to develop dementia in general.” Basically, your ECU won’t deteriorate if you drink coffee!
